Genzebe Dibaba to Race 1,500 Meters at Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe in Germany

By Adam Kopet

Genzebe Dibaba will return to the track where she broke the indoor 1,500-meter world record in 2014 when she races the same distance Feb. 3 at the Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe in Germany.

It was four years ago the Ethiopian ran 3:55.17. No other woman has come within two seconds of that mark indoors.

Challenging Dibaba will be a trio of Germans. Konstanze Klosterhalfen ran 3:58.92 for 1,500 meters outdoors last year. Gesa Felicitas Krause won bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2015 IAAF World Outdoor Championships. Alina Reh won the U23 title at the European Cross Country Championships last month over Klosterhalfen.

The Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe is the first stop on the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Tour.
